Teach your kids to be thieves!

Check this out: a school program designed to teach students how to use eminent domain to steal other people’s land for “economic redevelopment”:

Students form five-member development teams that will analyze and create a redevelopment plan that responds to a request for proposals put out by a mock redevelopment authority. Each student takes on one of the following roles:

marketing director, who researches what uses are needed and demanded by the market;

financial analyst, who advises the team on land uses that generate the most and the least value for developers and the city and keeps the team on track to come up with a plan that generates at least a 15% return for the development team;

site planner, who guides the team on issues of redeveloping the site and assesses the impact on traffic, aesthetics and density;

city liaison, who is responsible for making sure the team’s redevelopment plan meets the goals of the city council;

neighborhood liaison, who is responsible for making sure the team responds to the desires of five resident and business groups....

The teams use color-coded Lego bricks to create the layout plans for their redevelopment proposals.

Well, isn’t that sweet? And which student gets to play lawyer, to file the demurrer when I sue the hell out of ‘em? (Thanks to Larry for the pointer.)
