Commenting on the Rapture Index, which I pointed to here, Jason Kuznicki writes,
[I]sn’t it transparently obvious that the Rapture Index—and by extension much of the current concern over the rapture—is really a measure of conservative Christian political stress? I can't help but think that the political cart is running far ahead of the religious horse, and that religion is serving here as a cover for a set of more or less unexamined political beliefs—beliefs which, once they have gained the stamp of religion, need never be examined again.
