Before people start thinking that Heller was a case brought by the National Rifle Association, it probably deserves emphasis that it was not—it was brought by Robert Levy of the Cato Institute and Clark Neily of the Institute for Justice, with help from several friends. The NRA wasn’t just uninvolved, but was positively opposed to the case, and actively sought to sabotage it. The NRA may be an organization worthy of your support, but the true leadership in this as in so many other cases, came from idealistic libertarians who had vision and the guts to take a risk. Congratulations to them.
