This weekend, I finished Richard Brookheiser's new book, James Madison. It's a nice, breezy overview of Madison's life, a nice antidote to Garry Wills' truly terrible hatchet job on the Father of the Constitution. Someone wanting an in-depth examination of Madison would be better suited reading Ralph Ketcham, Lance Banning, or Gary Rosen, or but the Brookhesier book is a very enjoyable introduction.
