So far, the weirdest thing I've seen written about the Connecticut shootings.
1) We have no idea whether "the weakened family" had any relationship to the attacks.
2) What exactly is a "weakened family"--a divorced family, or an unhappy, abusive one that sticks together "for the sake of the kids"?
3) We have no idea how the "crumbling of [unspecified] other forms of authority" related to the attacks. But once again, the first thing conservatives fly to is that there's not enough authority around. Cause authority is certainly the way to prevent violence. (Why is this blog called the Liberty Law Blog, again? It seems all we get from it is authoritarianism upon authoritarianism.)
4) What are we supposed to prefer to a "comfortable, sheep-like" democratic existence? An uncomfortable, wolf-like existence? No, thanks.
5) If contempt for the "sheep-like existence" is what "tempts the baser instincts," then isn't Masugi's contempt for the "sheep-like existence" just what we should fear?
6) Asian-Americans? Is he serious?
7) I repeat. Disarm Asian-Americans? Is he serious?
Update: Amusingly, Liberty Law Blog gives us a good post on the racist origins of gun control laws.
