For those who may not be familiar with the story, Penelope, Odysseus' wife, kept the suitors waiting for years by claiming she was hard at work on a tapestry in honor of her husband, presumed dead. In fact, every night she would pluck out the embroidery she'd done during the day, thus accomplishing absolutely nothing, and fooling the suitors into waiting...and waiting...and waiting.... Of course, she had the decency to do this on her own dime.
