My new book, Frederick Douglass: Self-Made Man, will be published by Cato on February 14, which will be Douglass's 200th birthday. I'll have more to say about it soon, but I'm excited to show off the cover. It features the photo that Douglass took in Hillsdale, Michigan, when he spoke at the college in 1863. Aside from the sentimental value, I've long thought it's Douglass's best photo (which is saying a lot, because he was the most photographed American of the nineteenth century). Thanks to Hillsdale College for letting us use it.
